Alva

A Quen Diviner from across the Great Ocean, she came with her people to the ruins of San Francisco in the hopes of uncovering data to help their tribal homeland which is suffering from drought. As a Diviner, she has the privilege of reading and interpreting the Legacy — Old World data — in an effort to find the truth. While she believes in the overall value of the Legacy and what it represents, her worldviews get shaken up after meeting Aloy.

The events surrounding the tomb of Ted Faro, and the actions and motivations of the Zeniths in their final battle, have caused her to question more and more the state-sanctioned “truths” of the Quen Empire and the perception of their revered Ancestors and their legacies. While a number of the original fleet at Legacy’s Landfall left to return home, Alva chose to stay behind to aid Aloy and her friends— though the decision comes at great personal cost, as it is uncertain when she will be able to reunite with her family, or her partner Federa, again.

Drakka

A Tenakth soldier of the Desert Clan, Drakka had risen to the rank of Leader of the settlement Arrowhand before meeting Aloy. Needing machine hearts to trade to the clan capital of Scalding Spear for the scarce and precious resource of water, Aloy offered her assistance to Drakka in the hunt, and also later aided him in his challenge for the position of Commander of the Desert Clan.

Hiding a caring heart and a shrewd mind behind a charming smile and flirty words, Drakka now aims to help his people get the water they all need to survive in the desert. He must also prove to his people and to himself that he deserves the title of Commander by his own power, working to find a way to quell challenges without further bloodshed within a clan that has already lost so many. Despite all of the clan’s struggles living in the harsh environment of the desert, and the lure of Regalla’s cause and vendetta against the Carja dividing his people, Drakka soldiers on – all the while hoping his Desert Flame will visit him soon.

Erend

A loyal and boisterous Oseram Freebooter originally hailing from the Claim, Erend made his home in Meridian after the Liberation, becoming part of Sun-King Avad’s Vanguard alongside his sister Ersa and the rest of the Freebooters. He first met Aloy as a peace envoy to the Sacred Lands, to mediate diplomatic efforts between the Carja and the Nora. Their paths crossed again in Meridian where Erend requested her “second sight” to help find his missing sister, and although Aloy did what she could, Erend lost Ersa to the grudge of an Oseram warlord, and he had to step into her place as Captain. Trusting them to help defend against the threat of HADES and the Eclipse, Erend and the Vanguard assisted Aloy at the Battle of the Alight, and proved victorious.

The two reunited months later in the Daunt — but an injury confines Erend to the outpost of Barren Light while Aloy pushed deeper into the Forbidden West. When summoned by Varl to join their cause, however, he showed no hesitation, stepping fully into her world and providing crucial support to the team in their fight against the Zeniths. Erend has been with Aloy since the beginnings of her journey, and a close bond has developed between them as a result.

Kotallo

Born to the Sky Clan of the Tenakth, Kotallo proved himself a hero at the Battle of Barren Light during the Red Raids, going on to become a Marshal in service to Chief Hekarro and the tribe as a whole. In that role, he attended the Embassy between the Tenakth and Carja but finds peace is not to be, as the traitor Regalla and her rebels attacked the negotiations at the gates of Barren Light. In the slaughter that followed, Kotallo lost his fellow Marshals and friends, his arm, and his worth — or so he believes.

Still healing from his injury, he is ordered by Hekarro to work with Aloy in the name of restrengthening their weakened tribe through the Kulrut — a rite of passage to gain new Marshalls — and Kotallo found himself tearing down walls and finding a new cause to fight for. In the aftermath of the Kulrut, Kotallo made a choice, pledging his life and his strength to Aloy and her mission. In doing so, Kotallo gained a new purpose, a new squad, and an acceptance not only from others and from himself, but from Aloy as well.

Nil

A former soldier hailing from the Sundom, Nil is mysterious and charming, with a fascination for the macabre. Not much is known about his past, other than the fact that he participated in the Red Raids and was subsequently imprisoned in the Carja prison of Sunstone Rock for two years after volunteering his confession to Sun-King Avad. After his release, Nil traveled east to the Sacred Lands where he met Aloy at the beginning of her own journey. Together they cleared the wilds of bandits, and with no other challenges left, he proposed a duel to Aloy. Her refusal of the duel led to Nil later assisting her cause at the Battle of the Alight for a new kind of fight.

Once the battle was over, Nil traveled west to old haunts, until he met a ragtag squad of Tenakth teenagers who raced machines. At the promise of new challenges, he decided to abandon killing for the thrill of racing. Joining this new squad, Nil remained undefeated until Aloy crossed paths with him again. He concealed his identity with a mask during their initial encounters in the Forbidden West, until Aloy beat him in a final race at the Stillsands, where Nil revealed his face and expressed a willingness to be there for her in whatever she needs, now or in the future.

Petra

A stouthearted Oseram who left the Claim, Petra is a talented tinker and engineer, having worked on the famed Great Elevators of Meridian. After the Liberation and Avad’s ascension as Sun-King, she went east into the wilds and helped found the settlement of Free Heap, a place free from the patriarchal rules of the Oseram Ealdormen. Petra, with Aloy’s assistance, created a hand-held cannon to protect Free Heap from hostile machines and humans; a weapon which later played a vital part in the defense of Meridian against HADES and the Eclipse during the Battle of the Alight.

Feeling restless and wanderlusting for something new, she traveled west to the town of Chainscrape, where she butted heads with its self-proclaimed mayor, Ulvund. With Aloy’s investigative help, Ulvund was ousted for corruption, and Petra was given charge of the settlement with the people’s support. Since then, she has been working hard to make everything run as smoothly as well-greased Oseram gears, with the promise that she always has a drink ready for a certain flame-haired Nora.

Seyka

A Marine whose martial skills earned her a place among the Eastern Expedition to San Francisco in a final bid to save the Quen’s dying homeland, Seyka’s love for her people and dedication to their mission was coloured with worry about her sister and the missing half of the fleet. Stranded in the ruins of Los Angeles, a scouting group goes missing, among which are one of the few remaining Diviners of their company, as well as her sister Kina – the Quen’s star navigator, and one of the fleet’s last hopes of a safe return home. Willing to do anything to protect her sister, Seyka broke one of the tribe’s most strict laws by donning a Diviner’s Focus, risking severe punishment to reunite with those who were lost.

On her own search for answers, Aloy literally crashes into Seyka’s life, and the two quickly team up. Finding sympathy from an outlander in rebelling against traditional rules in the name of doing what’s right for her home, Seyka found herself at a crossroads — all while some members of her tribe made their disapproval loud and clear. As the dust settles after rescuing her sister from the thrall of a Living Ancestor, and thwarting his puppeteered Metal Devil, Seyka’s sense of purpose has been uprooted. With the people she worked so hard to save now unsure of what to do with her defiant, unabashed spirit, her ideas of belonging are rattled – but Seyka finds reassurance in Aloy’s words that she has value, no matter what others think of her.

Talanah

A Carja noble, an elite machine hunter, and a fierce friend, Talanah is a proud descendant of a line of Hawks of the Hunter’s Lodge. Eager to break barriers and determined to hold the organization to a loftier standard of inclusivity encouraged by Sun-King Avad, Talanah became Sunhawk with her Thrush Aloy at her side after many a challenging hunt. After the Battle of the Alight, she and Aloy set out on different paths, seeking further purpose, only to meet again in the Forbidden West — where Talanah had gone in search of Amadis, a hunter she met during a transformative journey into the wilds after the events of the Battle of the Alight.

Learning more about herself and how their bonds to others shape them, Talanah and Aloy tracked down Amadis and helped him find a fellow soldier from his past that he sought closure for, as it was uncertain if they were dead or alive.  Though this pursuit for closure – for both Amadis and Talanah – ended bittersweetly, the two women found warm satisfaction in their time spent together on another hunting adventure. Parting ways with Aloy once more, this time with an embrace and sharing some words of wisdom, Talanah headed back to the Sundom with a promise to meet again.
